The food is now chyme and is ready to go through the small intestine. To small intestine is made up of three parts:
1. The duodenum- The first part that is the shape of a "C"
2. The jejunum- The middle section that is coiled
3. The ileum- The final part of the small intestine
The walls of the small intestine are covered villi. Villi are microscopic, finger-like projections that absorb nutrients into the body.
